Negatively stained molecules of Sepia officinalis hemocyanin (Hc) (Mr 3.8×106) have the form of a partly hollow cylinder with 350 A diameter and 170 A height. The circular profiles show material inside the cylinder: the so-called collar which has 5-fold (or possibly 10-fold) symmetry (1). At higher pH values this Hc dissociates into five subunits, each

Bei Sepia officinalis last sich die Pericardialdruse beiderseitig entfernen. Die Tiere machen zunachst einen vollig normalen Eindruck, gehen aber langstens in viermal 24 Stunden zugrunde. Exstirpiert man nur ein Organ und bindet das andere nur ab, so wird die Lebensdauer etwas verlangert.
