Polyarticular Septic Arthritis

Twenty-five cases of polyarticular septic arthritis (PASA) were observed in our department over a 13-year period. They accounted for 16.6% of all septic arthritis (15% on average in the literature). A male predominance was noted in our patients, as well as in the literature.

Polyarticular septic arthritis following septic circumcision [PDF]

Ritual circumcision during an initiation ceremony for young adults is common practice in parts of South Africa. We report on a case of polyarticular septic arthritis in a seventeen-year-old man following septicaemia after circumcision, resulting in severe fixed flexion deformities of both knees.

The circadian system is involved in the temporal regulation of the immune system. Our study reveals that two innate immune populations, NKT cells and neutrophils, predominate at the beginning of the day in healthy mice, highlighting how the time of day influences immune responses.
