Trangressive segregation for resistance in wheat to Septoria tritici blotch

open access: yesAfrican Crop Science Journal, 2000
An experiment was carried out to study the inheritance of resistance in F6 progenies obtained from 36 crosses involving 14 wheat cultivars. Transgressive segregation towards more resistance and/or more susceptibility to Septoria tritici blotch in wheat occurred in most of the crosses.

The Zymoseptoria tritici Avirulence Factor AvrStb6 Accumulates in Hyphae Close to Stomata and Triggers a Wheat Defense Response Hindering Fungal Penetration

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions
Zymoseptoria tritici, the causal agent of Septoria tritici blotch, is one of Europe's most damaging wheat pathogens, causing significant economic losses.

Ga and Gß Proteins Regulate the Cyclic AMP Pathway That Is Required for Development and Pathogenicity of the Phytopathogen Mycosphaerella graminicola [PDF]

open access: yes
We identified and functionally characterized genes encoding three G alpha proteins and one G beta protein in the dimorphic fungal wheat pathogen Mycosphaerella graminicola, which we designated MgGpa1, MgGpa2, MgGpa3, and MgGpb1, respectively.

Cultivar and species mixture effect on wheat septoria tritici blotch spreading

open access: yes, 2012
Within the framework of pesticide reduction policy, it is necessary to find alternative practices to control wheat diseases. For air-borne diseases such as rusts and powdery mildew, cultivar and species mixtures can reduce severity by 40 to 80% compared to the mean of the pure stands.

Cereal variety and population selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This research review notes that cereal variety breeding in the last 50 years has been based on pedigree line bred varieties as part of the development of a production system dependent on oil-based inputs.
