Sequence diversity and evolutionary dynamics of the dimorphic antigen merozoite surface protein-6 and other Msp genes of Plasmodium falciparum.

open access: yes, 2009
Immune evasion by Plasmodium falciparum is favored by extensive allelic diversity of surface antigens. Some of them, most notably the vaccine-candidate merozoite surface protein (MSP)-1, exhibit a poorly understood pattern of allelic dimorphism, in which

CISAPS: Complex Informational Spectrum for the Analysis of Protein Sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Complex informational spectrum analysis for protein sequences (CISAPS) and its web-based server are developed and presented. As recent studies show, only the use of the absolute spectrum in the analysis of protein sequences using the informational ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

On ARS-interacting multifunctional protein p18

open access: yes, 2008
Nine aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases with three auxiliary components are forming a multisynthetase complex which is essential component of protein biosynthesis machinery. The smallest auxiliary component p18 takes part in biosynthesis channeling. It is also a

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Non-Linear Dynamics Analysis of Protein Sequences. Application to CYP450

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
The nature of changes involved in crossed-sequence scale and inner-sequence scale is very challenging in protein biology. This study is a new attempt to assess with a phenomenological approach the non-stationary and nonlinear fluctuation of changes ...
