Optimal Separation Sequence for Three-Component Mixtures

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2007
In this paper, the problem of finding the optimal separation sequence for a three-component mixture in a cascade of two binary separation stages is considered. The minimal energy that is needed for a separation in a two-stage mechanical separation subject to a given flow rate of the input mixture is obtained.

Principal component coding of mouth sequences

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993
Facial features of a videophone image sequence are coded using the traditional technique of principal components (PCs). One of the main advantages of this method is that it makes use of a large a priori knowledge of the images and exploits the correlation between pixel values.

INDEPENDENT COMPONENT ANALYSIS SEPARATES SEQUENCE-SENSITIVE ERP COMPONENTS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2004
Human performance is strongly influenced by the sequence of events. Decreasing the response-stimulus interval (RSI) between events qualitatively changes these so-called sequential effects. Using event-related brain potentials (ERPs) to detect electrical brain activity related to sequential patterns helps to uncover mechanisms underlying the observed ...

Three Component Sequence Stratigraphy

AAPG Bulletin, 1992
ABSTRACT Rapid developments in sequence stratigraphy have significantly changed the way of subdividing, correlating and mapping sedimentary rocks. Sequence stratigraphy has evolved from a theoretically controversial model into a practically accepted method.

Unbalance Assessment Using Sequence Components

2011
This chapter starts with an introduction of unbalance assessment. It then describes sequence components in three phase system. Unbalance is assessed using sequence components. A case study has been shown on single phasing of an induction machine. Generation of sequence components along with their phase shift has been mathematically explained.

Adaptive Detecting Method for Fundamental Positive Sequence, Negative Sequence Components and Harmonic Component Based on Space Vector

2005/2006 PES TD, 2006
Based on the concept of space vector, an adaptive detecting method for fundamental positive and negative sequence components and harmonic components is proposed in this paper, and a detailed theory analysis has also been done. The results show that for fundamental component detecting loop, the proposed adaptive detecting method is equivalent to an ...

Sequence System Building Blocks: Using a Component Architecture for Sequencing Software

SpaceOps 2006 Conference, 2006
Over the last few years software engineering has made significant strides in making more flexible architectures and designs possible. However, at the same time, spacecraft have become more complex and flight software has become more sophisticated. Typically spacecraft are often one-of-a-kind entities that have different hardware designs, different ...

A Fast Method for Sequence Component Filtering

International Journal of Electrical Engineering & Education, 2003
In this paper a method to filter or segregate sequence components, using minimal hardware is presented. The method does not involve phase shifts other than that of 90 degrees. Thus it can be implemented using very simple hardware or if implemented in software will need considerably less amount of processing. The method consists in first separating the

Isolating periodic components in pseudorandom number sequences

Cybernetics, 1984
The main idea of the paper is based on the observation, that some semiperiodic properties of a random number generator can be derived from the spectral density D of the produced sequence S of random numbers. D can be estimated by a statistics derived from the periodogram of S. The results are applied on a concrete multiplicative congruential generator.

Induction machine diagnostics using zero sequence components

Fourtieth IAS Annual Meeting. Conference Record of the 2005 Industry Applications Conference, 2005., 2005
Induction machine diagnostics using zero sequence components is presented in this paper. Electrical faults cause asymmetries in the phase impedances, producing a zero sequence voltage in wye-connected machines and a zero sequence current in delta-connected machines.
