3D‐Printing Aided Rapid Prototyping of Pretensioned Tensegrity Structures for Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Printing, injection molding, and assembly (PMA) is a method for rapid prototyping mesoscale, topologically complex, and tensioned tensegrity structures. In combination with PMA method, two mold design strategies: modular mold and compact channel layout, enable efficiency and scalability for tensegrity fabrication.

Freeform surface modeling through 2D sketching

open access: yes, 2019
Sketch-based modeling is an effective and intuitive approach for creating 3D shapes. It allows users to draw some strokes on a 2D plane; then the algorithm tries to interpret the strokes and turn them into a 3D shape.

DNA Replication Errors Drive Genome‐Wide Small Inverted Triplication Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study provides insight into the dynamic equilibrium mechanism of a novel structural variant, small inverted triplication (SIT), which is generated by misalignment of the 3’ flap generated under DNA replication stress with palindromic sequence. Alternatively, the end sequence may fold back on itself to form an inverted fragment.

Graph Sketching Against Adaptive Adversaries Applied to the Minimum Degree Algorithm

open access: yes, 2018
Motivated by the study of matrix elimination orderings in combinatorial scientific computing, we utilize graph sketching and local sampling to give a data structure that provides access to approximate fill degrees of a matrix undergoing elimination in $O(

Biolipid Film‐Fused Electrochemiluminescence for Multipurpose In Situ Bioassays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ECL‐emissive, membrane‐interactive scaffold was fabricated, and facilely fused with natural and non‐native phospholipids into multifactorial mimicries of cytomembranes and vesicles for in vitro representative membrane‐process probing. Such a biointerface‐based, state‐sensitive ECL paradigm not only pinpointed proximal phenomena, including channeling

A Visual Sequence of Urban Spaces in San Giulio, Lake Orta, Italy

open access: yes, 2007
These notes and sketches are based on the author’s travel journal from his visit to Italy in the summer of 1987. They reveal a spectacular sequence of spaces and vistas from San Giulio, a small medieval town in the north of Italy.

Bamboo‐Like Whiskers‐Reinforced Bioceramics Accelerate Large Segmental Bone Regeneration via Dual Modulation of Type‐H Vessels and Osteoinduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract image of bamboo‐like whisker‐reinforced Ca‐P bioceramics accelerating large segmental bone regeneration. ABSTRACT Regenerative repair of segmental bone defect remains a major clinical challenge. The conventional mental implants suffer from mechanical strength mismatch and long‐term foreign bodies presence.

Structural and Compositional Effects on the Scintillation Properties of Fast Emitting Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The crystalline structure, the atomic numbers of the constituent elementsand the size of MOF crystals each influence their photoluminescence and scintillation properties in distinct ways. Together, these factors provide valuable guidelines for designing systems with optimized performance and tunable timing characteristics, arising from the synergistic ...

On Sketching Quadratic Forms

open access: yes, 2016
We undertake a systematic study of sketching a quadratic form: given an n × n matrix A, create a succinct sketch sk(A) which can produce (without further access to A) a multiplicative (1+ϵ)-Approximation to xTAx for any desired query x 2 Rn.
