mcr-1−Harboring Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium Sequence Type 34 in Pigs, China
We detected the mcr-1 gene in 21 (14.8%) Salmonella isolates from pigs at slaughter; 19 were serovar Typhimurium sequence type 34. The gene was located on IncHI2-like plasmids that also harbored IncF replicons and lacked a conjugative transfer region ...

Smarandache Concatenate Type Sequences
Professor Anthony Begay of Navajo Community College influenced me in writing this paper. I enjoyed the Smarandache concatenation. The sequences shown here have been extracted from the Arizona State University(Tempe) Archives. They are defmed as follows:

Sequence Types for the π-calculus
AbstractWe introduce channel sequence types to study finitary polymorphism in the context of mobile processes modelled in the π-calculus. We associate to each channel a set of exchange types, and we require that output processes send values of one of those types, and input processes accept values of any type in the set.

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Bovine rotavirus V1005 a P5, not a P12, type like all viruses in a German survey [PDF]
Bovine rotavirus (BRV) V1005, like 34 further cell culture-adapted strains in a 6-year survey in Upper Bavaria, Germany, is not a P12 but a P5 P-type rotavirus.

Application of MLST and Pilus gene sequence comparisons to investigate the population structures of Actinomyces naeslundii and Actinomyces oris [PDF]
Actinomyces naeslundii and Actinomyces oris are members of the oral biofilm. Their identification using 16S rRNA sequencing is problematic and better achieved by comparison of metG partial sequences. A.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Hot-spot consensus of fluoroquinolone-mediated DNA cleavage by gram-negative and gram-positive type II DNA topoisomerases [PDF]
Bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV are selective targets of fluoroquinolones. Topoisomerase IV versus gyrase and Gram-positive versus Gram-negative behavior was studied based on the different recognition of DNA sequences by topoisomerase ...
