Reliability Analysis of Nonrepairable Cold-Standby Systems Using Sequential Binary Decision Diagrams

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics - Part A: Systems and Humans, 2012
Many real-world systems, particularly those with limited power resources, are designed with cold-standby redundancy for achieving fault tolerance and high reliability. Cold-standby units are unpowered and, thus, do not consume any power until needed to replace a faulty online component.

Quantitative analysis of dynamic fault trees using improved Sequential Binary Decision Diagrams

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2015
Abstract Dynamic fault trees (DFTs) are powerful in modeling systems with sequence- and function dependent failure behaviors. The key point lies in how to quantify complex DFTs analytically and efficiently. Unfortunately, the existing methods for analyzing DFTs all have their own disadvantages.

Design of reward structures for sequential decision-making processes using symbolic analysis

2013 American Control Conference, 2013
In this paper we construct a symbolic mathematical model for a deterministic decision-making process, called the win-stay lose-switch model, that has been used recently to study human behaviors in a class of two-alternative, sequential, decision-making tasks.

Modeling and analysis of dynamic decision making in sequential two-choice tasks

2008 47th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2008
We present the construction and analysis of a dynamical system model for human decision making in sequential two-choice tasks, in which a human subject makes a series of interrelated decisions between two choices in order to obtain the maximum reward.

Pragmatics of dyadic decision making: A sequential analysis of communication patterns

Western Journal of Speech Communication, 1983
This descriptive study examines the sequence of communication in a normal, highly satisfied couple's decision making. Speech acts are categorized along task and affiliative dimensions, and a lag sequential analysis identifies dependency relationships among categories.

Methods of determining the optimal decision functions in truncated sequential analysis problems

Cybernetics, 1986
A problem of distinguishing a finite number N of simple statistical hypotheses is considered. The decision is to be based on a sequence of experiments the length of which is random, but bounded by a finite number m. On each stage, we can choose one of L types of experiments. The cost of experiment depends on its type. \textit{Yu. B.

Sequential analysis of decisions : from integration of irreversibility to arbitrage between flexibilities

1999
