Sequential Decision Making under Uncertain Future Preferences

Operations Research, 1984
We present a model of sequential decision making under uncertain future preferences, assuming that the evolution of the trade-off weight vector is constrained by set inclusion. We consider different mechanisms for selecting the next trade-off weight vector: a mechanism working against the decision maker (DM) (M), a mechanism trying to aid the DM (B ...

Decision Making in a Sequential Game

Journal of Sports Economics, 2012
This article uses data from NASCAR to examine strategic decision making with professional players and high stakes. The authors look at driver decisions to pit, enabling car performance to be improved at the cost of track position. Unlike other sports choices that have been used to test game-theoretic play, pitting decisions occur sequentially ...

Sequential Decision Making in Production Models

1983
Single equation estimates of production models usually are justified by the assumption that production inputs are chosen as part of a one-period decision problem. Yet, most production decisions in agriculture are made sequentially. In this paper the farmer's optimal input choices are modeled as optimal controls in a stochastic control problem.

Qualitative Possibilistic Decisions: Decomposition and Sequential Decisions Making

2017
Min-based possibilistic influence diagrams offer a compact modeling of decision problems under uncertainty. Uncertainty and preferential relations are expressed on the same structure by using ordinal data. In many applications, it may be natural to represent expert knowledge and preferences separately and treat all nodes similarly.

Sequential decision making using expert advice

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2002
Presents a theory for sequentially choosing decisions by combining the suggestions of a fixed number of experts. the author takes a game theoretic approach and attempts to do as well as the best expert under worst case assumptions. Surprisingly, it is possible to do as well as if one knows the statistics of the system in advance.

Sequential Decision Making Under Uncertainty

2005
My main research centers around sequential decision making under uncertainty. In a complex dynamical system useful abstractions of knowledge can be essential to an autonomous agent for e.cient decision making. Predictive State Representation, PSR, has been developed to provide a maintainable, self-verifiable and learnable representation of the ...

Representation Discovery in Sequential Decision Making

Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2010
Automatically constructing novel representations of tasks from analysis of state spaces is a longstanding fundamental challenge in AI. I review recent progress on this problem for sequential decision making tasks modeled as Markov decision processes.

SELF-CONSISTENCY IN SEQUENTIAL DECISION-MAKING

2018
Human decisions are rarely made in isolation. We typically have to make a sequence of decisions to reach a goal. Studies in economics and cognitive psychology have shown that making a decision may result in several biases in subsequent judgments.
