Evalution of sequential extractions on dry and wet sediments
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2003A five-step sequential extraction procedure was applied on dried and wet Ballastplaat Scheldt estuary sediments. When wet (fresh) sediments were used, all sample handling up to the 3rd extraction step, inclusive, was carried out under inert atmosphere. The repeatability of the procedure was very good on dry samples.

Sensors like radar or sonar usually produce data on the basis of a single frame of observation: target detections. The detection performance is described by quantities like detection probability Pd and false alarm density f. A different task of detection is formation of tracks of targets unknown in number from data of multiple consecutive frames of ...

Is there a future for sequential chemical extraction?
The Analyst, 2008Since their introduction in the late 1970s, sequential extraction procedures have experienced a rapid increase in use. They are now applied for a large number of potentially toxic elements in a wide range of sample types. This review uses evidence from the literature to consider the usefulness and limitations of sequential extraction and thereby to ...

Keyword extraction based on sequential pattern mining
Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Internet Multimedia Computing and Service, 2011Keyword extraction is to automatically extract keywords that capture the main topic discussed in a given document. In this paper, a new keyword extraction algorithm based on sequential patterns is proposed. By preprocessing, a document is represented as sequences of words where a sequential pattern mining algorithm is applied on, and important ...

Sequential blind extraction of instantaneously mixed sources
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2002This paper presents a general approach to sequential blind extraction of instantaneously mixed sources for several major ill-conditioned cases as well as the regular case of full column rank mixing matrices. Four ill-conditioned cases are considered: The mixing matrix is square but singular; the number of sensors is less than that of sources; the ...

FIExPat: flexible extraction of sequential patterns
Proceedings 2001 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining, 2002This paper addresses sequential data mining, a sub-area of data mining where the data to be analyzed is organized in sequences. In many problem domains a natural ordering exists over data. Examples of sequential databases (SDBs) include: (a) collections of temporal data sequences, such as chronological series of daily stock indices or multimedia data ...

Extracting straight lines by sequential fuzzy clustering
Pattern Recognition Letters, 1996In clustering line segments into a straight line, threshold-based methods such as hierarchical clustering are often used. The line segments comprising a straight line often get misaligned due to noise. Threshold-based methods have difficulty clustering such line segments. A new cluster extraction method is proposed to cope with this problem.

Sequential extraction of components of multicomponent PPS signals
1999 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings. ICASSP99 (Cat. No.99CH36258), 1999A procedure for parameter estimation of multicomponent polynomial phase signals is presented. This scheme, while restricted to high SNRs, has the advantage of being extremely simple. It is also insensitive to the equal-coefficient identifiability problem of the HAF (high-order ambiguity function) based methods.

Sequential Extraction of Proteins by Chemical Reagents
2008Reproducible techniques for the prefractionation of proteins prior to two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) are essential for increasing the number of unique proteins that can be identified and assayed following biological experimentation. A simple and robust technique for separating highly soluble (hydrophilic) cytoplasmic proteins from poorly ...

Iterative tracking algorithms must be initiated appropriately. Under simple conditions, this is not a difficult task, as has been shown above (Eq. 3.8). For low observable objects, i.e. objects embedded in a high clutter background [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] or in case of incomplete measurements [6, 7], more than a single set of observations at particular data ...
