Austrocedrus from the Late Cretaceous of Antarctica and its implications for the early evolution of southern cypresses (Callitroideae, Cupressaceae)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise The modern distribution of the southern cypresses, Callitroideae (Cupressaceae), reflects a classic Gondwanan distribution. The initial diversification of Callitroideae is estimated to have occurred during the Cretaceous, yet fossils from this period are rare, hampering our understanding of its early evolutionary history.

An X‑Shaped Chiral Non‑Fullerene n‐Type Semiconductor: Application in Perovskite Solar Cells and Chirality‑Induced Spin Selectivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A highly electron‑accepting derivative of cyclobisbiphenylenecarbonyl (CBBC‐TIC) is reported. CBBC‐TIC functions as an electron‐transport layer for perovskite solar cells, achieving a power conversion efficiency of 20.6%. Furthermore, the enantiomers of CBBC‐TIC exhibited spin‐selective electron transport with high enantiospecific magnetic conductance ...

Trends in Opioid‐Related Poisonings and Mental and Behavioral Disorders From 2006 to 2022 Among a Large Cohort of Injured Workers in Ontario, Canada

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Work‐related injuries may increase risk for opioid‐related harms. Yet there remains a gap in our understanding of trends in opioid‐related harms over time among injured workers. We estimated trends in hospital encounters for opioid‐related harms among injured workers in Ontario, Canada from 2006 to 2022.

Methanol Decomposition on TiO2 Under Ambient Conditions: Cooperative Proton Transfer at Hydrated Interfaces

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Under ambient conditions, the TiO2 surface becomes hydrated by adsorbed hydroxyl groups (OH) and water molecules. This surface hydration promotes methanol decomposition, rendering the first deprotonation step nearly barrierless compared with ideal UHV conditions.
