Sequential evolution conformable differential equations of second order with nonlocal condition

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
In this paper, we investigate second order evolution differential equation in the frame of sequential conformable derivatives with nonlocal condition. First, we establish Duhamel’s formula in terms of a standard cosine family of linear operators.

The languages of thought [PDF]

open access: yesAntropólogos Iberoamericanos en Red, 2021
Linguistic relativity, rightly understood, implies that the presence or absence of certain grammatical categories and discursive styles can influence how we perceive and experience the world around us. In this study, monolingual speakers of Chol Mayan, a

Sequential Tool Use in Great Apes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Sequential tool use is defined as using a tool to obtain another non-food object which subsequently itself will serve as a tool to act upon a further ( sub) goal. Previous studies have shown that birds and great apes succeed in such tasks.

Timing and presentation effects in sequential auctions

open access: yesJournal of Mechanism and Institution Design, 2017
This paper investigates two hitherto unexplored dimensions inherent in online sequential auctions, namely, how the time elapsed between the end of an auction and the end of the next one and the order of presentation on the website affect prices ...

Sequential Classification on Partially Ordered Sets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 2003
SummaryA general theorem on the asymptotically optimal sequential selection of experiments is presented and applied to a Bayesian classification problem when the parameter space is a finite partially ordered set. The main results include establishing conditions under which the posterior probability of the true state converges to 1 almost surely and ...

Dissociating the sequential dependency of subjective temporal order from subjective simultaneity.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The physical simultaneity between two events can differ from our point of subjective simultaneity (PSS). Studies using simultaneity judgments (SJ) and temporal order judgments (TOJ) tasks have shown that whether two events are reported as simultaneous is

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Sequential Point Estimation of a Function of the Exponential Scale Parameter

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2016
We consider sequential point estimation of a function of the scale parameter of an exponential distribution subject to the loss function given as a sum of the squared error and a linear cost.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
