Sequential auctions and price anomalies [PDF]

open access: yesEkonomski Anali, 2014
In sequential auctions objects are sold one by one in separate auctions. These sequential auctions might be organized as sequential first-price, second-price, or English auctions. We will derive equilibrium bidding strategies for these auctions.

A Comprehensive Survey on Auction Mechanism Design for Cloud/Edge Resource Management and Pricing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Driven by the vision of cloud and edge computing as the 5th utility, a major challenge is the efficient resource management and pricing taking into account incentives and preferences of cloud/edge providers, users, and the system.

Does size matter in group decision making? Simulation experiments with LNG professionals bidding in auction markets

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Engineering and Management, 2022
Purpose: An important issue in decision-making processes is whether groups decide better than individuals. This paper compares the bidding behavior of groups of professionals while playing a business game that simulates, in a controlled environment, the ...

Multi-unit auctions in the procurement of electricity [PDF]

open access: yesEkonomski Anali, 2013
This paper reviews some multi-unit auction mechanisms that are used in the procurement of electricity. In ordinary multi-unit auctions bidders compete to buy several units of the same object from the seller, while in procurement or reverse auctions ...

Coasian equilibria in sequential auctions

open access: yesEuropean Economic Review, 2023
We study stationary equilibria in a sequential auction setting. A seller runs a sequence of standard first-price or second-price auctions to sell an indivisible object to potential buyers. The seller can commit to the rule of the auction and the reserve price of the current period but not to reserve prices of future periods.

An Improved Intelligent Auction Mechanism for Emergency Material Delivery

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Emergency material delivery is vital to disaster emergency rescue. Herein, the framework of the emergency material delivery system (EMDS) with the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as the vehicle is proposed, and the problem is modeled into a multi-trip time-

Sequential Auctions and Externalities [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Twenty-Third Annual ACM-SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms, 2012
In many settings agents participate in multiple different auctions that are not necessarily implemented simultaneously. Future opportunities affect strategic considerations of the players in each auction, introducing externalities. Motivated by this consideration, we study a setting of a market of buyers and sellers, where each seller holds one item ...

Optimal bidding in sequential auctions [PDF]

open access: yes1974 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control including the 13th Symposium on Adaptive Processes, 1974
A bidder's strategy in one auction may affect his competitors' behavior in subsequent auctions. When this occurs, bidding in a sequence of auctions can be modeled fruitfully as a multistage control process. This paper presents such a model. In it the control is the bidder's strategy, the state characterizes the competitors' behavior and the state ...
