Multiple Twinning in Nacre and Aragonite
Electron backscatter diffraction map of a cluster of geologic aragonite, exhibiting single, double, and triple twins. The whole cluster is approximately 2 cm wide. Colors indicate crystal orientations, so that pixels where the a‐, b‐, and c‐axis is perpendicular to the image plane are green, red, and blue, respectively.

A roll‐to‐roll exfoliation method is demonstrated that preserves the crystallographic alignment of anisotropic 2D materials over large areas, enabling scalable fabrication of directional electronic and optoelectronic devices. Abstract Anisotropic 2D materials such as black phosphorus (BP), GeS or CrSBr, exhibit direction‐dependent optical and ...

Damage Identification in a Multi-DOF System under Uncertainties Using Optimization Algorithms [PDF]
In this study, four optimization algorithms are applied to identify the damage in a multi-DOF dynamical system composed of masses, springs, and dampers. The damage is introduced artificially by choosing a lower value for the stiffness.

Application of sizing design optimization to position and velocity synthesis in four bar linkage
In this work, we have developed and solved the synthesis of position and velocity for four bar mechanisms by means of dimensional and optimal algorithms of nonlinear optimization (sequential quadratic programming SQP).

Quasi-Newton Methods for Solving Nonlinear Programming Problems [PDF]
In the present paper the problem of constrained equality optimization is reduced to sequential solving a series of problems of quadratic programming. The Hessian of the Lagrangian is approximated by a sequence of symmetric positive definite matrices. The
