Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Approximation algorithm to symmetric alpha stable distribution with bi-region curve model

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2013
The symmetric alpha stable (S S) was used to model a non-Gaussian,heavy tail and impulsive noise of com-α munication channels. However, explicit expressions for the probability density functions (PDF) in terms of elementary functions are still unknown ...

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

The half way series expansion [PDF]

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Mathematics and Computer Science Research, 2018
A new formula for mathematics is derived which gives the upper half of the series expansion of the expression (ay+b)2n , where n  is a natural number. A proof of the new formula is given followed by a simple example to test its accuracy. This formula is helpful whenever n is  large.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Low-complexity channel estimation in massive MIMO based on Kaptyn series expansion

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2016
In order to reduce the complexity of the massive MIMO channel estimation, a channel estimation method based on Kapteyn series expansion was proposed. By using Taylor series to expand the inversion, the complexity was greatly reduced.

Valuing Guaranteed Minimum Death Benefits by Cosine Series Expansion

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
Recently, the valuation of variable annuity products has become a hot topic in actuarial science. In this paper, we use the Fourier cosine series expansion (COS) method to value the guaranteed minimum death benefit (GMDB) products.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
