GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Serious games in education [PDF]

open access: yesEAI Endorsed Transactions on Game-Based Learning, 2015
This paper describes some of the tensions around serious games in education by considering how serious games might be designed for learners who may not be especially motivated to play them. Beginning with a narrative that sets out where serious games position within educational settings, with a focus on high school and college, the paper describes two ...

Ethical Precision in Nanoscale Brain Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As brain interfaces approach the nanoscale, precision no longer only measures—it knows, predicts, and potentially reshapes the mind. This work argues that traditional ethics fails under such conditions and proposes a shift toward continuous, operation‐based governance using the recovery–discovery framework to track, constrain, and responsibly steer ...

Effects of a serious game on knowledge, attitude and practice in vector control and dengue prevention among adults in primary care: A randomised controlled trial

open access: yesDigital Health, 2022
Objective Dengue is endemic but vaccination against it is optional in tropical Singapore. Despite vector control measures to curb mosquito breeding, dengue infection continues to be prevalent.

ZNF33B Promotes Japanese Encephalitis Virus Infection by Regulating the Stability of M6A‐Modified Trim25 to Control the Autophagy Process

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Upon JEV infection, ZNF33B recruits METTL14 to stabilize the METTL3‐METTL14 m6A methyltransferase complex, leading to increased m6A modification of host transcripts, including Trim25 mRNA. ZNF33B selectively binds m6A‐modified sites on Trim25 mRNA and accelerates its decay, resulting in reduced TRIM25 protein abundance.

Synergistic Effect of Gradient Conductivity and Gradient Microstructures Enabled Ultrasensitive and Ultrabroad Linear Flexible Tactile Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A design of double gradient effect is proposed to resolve the contradictory optimization on sensitivity and linearity of piezoresistive tactile sensors. The ultrawide linearity is realized by the sequential trigger of pressure‐induced gradient conductivity‐enabled linear current owing to the gradient microstructures.

Serious Games for Dementia

open access: yesProceedings of the 26th International Conference on World Wide Web Companion - WWW '17 Companion, 2017
With the current phenomenon of aging populations in most parts of the world, there are corresponding increases in age-related conditions associated with impaired cognitive status, such as dementia and delirium. Cognitive status is a key component in carrying out activities of daily living such as walking and bathing, and departures from normal ...
