Seroepidemiological studies with campylobacter fetus
Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, Mikrobiologie und Hygiene. 1. Abt. Originale. A, Medizinische Mikrobiologie, Infektionskrankheiten und Parasitologie, 1981324 sera from unselected male and 581 sera from female patients as well as 268 sera from prostitutes were studied for antibodies against Campylobacter fetus using the complement fixation test. Antigen was Campylobacter fetus subspecies intestinalis. 3.9% of the sera showed low but relevant antibody titers.

Seroepidemiological Studies of Arboviruses in Africa
2018The literature on sero-epidemiological studies of flaviviral infections in the African continent is quite scarce. Much of the viral epidemiology studies have been focussing on diseases such as HIV/AIDS because of their sheer magnitude and impact on the lives of people in the various affected countries.

Comments on Seroepidemiologic Studies
2015If the tools for the control of transmission are not available, the application of seroepidemiologic methods, as an exercise in the tropics, just in order to assess the magnitude of the problem of malaria transmission, should be restricted. Application of seroepidemiologic methods in connection with control operations seems valuable.

Seroepidemiological study of rotavirus infection in rural Ghana
Annals of Tropical Paediatrics, 1984Children in a village in rural Ghana were found to have acquired antibody to rotavirus by the age of two years. The results of our study suggest that primary infection takes place early in infancy. Fifty-six per cent of the three to 20-months-old had a four-fold rise in antibody levels during the six months follow-up period and 72.2% of them had one or

Herpesvirus infection and cervical anaplasia—a seroepidemiological study
International Journal of Cancer, 1977AbstractIn a cohort of 23,146 pregnant females followed for 37–56 months subsequent to collection of prenatal sera, 57 cases of carcinoma of the cervix were encountered. Three controls were selected for each case from the residual cohort matched to cases for age, residence, number of prior cytology smears taken, and the date of entry to the study.

Seroepidemiological study of infectious mononucleosis in older patients
Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1989In southern Tasmania, Australia, primary Epstein-Barr virus infection occurs in adults greater than 30 years of age at a higher frequency (approximately 13% of all cases) than is generally reported for other parts of the world, and approximately 7% of the general population of the region have no antibodies to the virus. Epstein-Barr virus should not be

Seroepidemiologic Studies of Infectious Mononucleosis with Eb Virus
New England Journal of Medicine, 1968Abstract Certain epidemiologic features of infectious mononucleosis are indicated by antibody patterns to the EB or herpes-like virus of Burkitt lymphoma. The absence of antibody correlated well with susceptibility: of 268 entering college students whose serums lacked EBV antibody, infectious mononucleosis developed in 15 per cent; in 94 whose serums ...

Seroepidemiological studies on human pulmonary dirofilariasis in Spain
Annals of Tropical Medicine & Parasitology, 1990Preliminary data are presented on a serological survey of the human population of an area with a high prevalence of Dirofilaria immitis infection in dogs. Five per cent of the sera were positive for IgG. Simultaneous radiological study revealed a pulmonary nodule in one of the positive patients, and in this case the evolution of IgG and IgM levels was ...

[Seroepidemiologic studies of human toxocariasis].
Zentralblatt fur Hygiene und Umweltmedizin = International journal of hygiene and environmental medicine, 1991People of Southern Germany as well as European and non European asylum applicants were examined for Toxocara-infection by means of an ELISA with excretory/secretory antigen of Toxocara canis-larvae; in default of a reference method the cut off was defined statistically. In the Stuttgart area, the average seroprevalence of healthy blood donors was 4.8%;
