Seroepidemiologic Study Designs for Determining SARS-COV-2 Transmission and Immunity
Serologic studies are crucial for clarifying dynamics of the coronavirus disease pandemic. Past work on serologic studies (e.g., during influenza pandemics) has made relevant contributions, but specific conditions of the current situation require ...

Current Distribution of Selected Vector‐borne Diseases in Domestic Dogs From Bucharest, Romania
Serological testing of 317 dogs in Bucharest (2020‐2024) revealed an overall Canine vector‐borne diseases (CVBD) seroprevalence of 8.8%, with Dirofilaria immitis (12.62%) being the most common. Shelter and older dogs had higher infection rates. Climate change and vector expansion may influence pathogen spread, underscoring the need for enhanced ...

This research presents a method based on nanopore targeted sequencing (NTS) with pathogen‐specific panels for testing infective endocarditis (IE) and myocarditis. The NTS achieved a detection limit of 20 copies/test for the IE target panel and 10 copies/test for the myocarditis target panel.

Seroprevalence of Toxoplasmosis among Shelter-Housed Felines in a Philadelphia Suburb
Members of the Felidae family are the definitive host of the ubiquitous zoonotic parasite Toxoplasma gondii. Few studies have been conducted to determine the epidemiology of T. gondii in domestic felines within animal shelter populations.

Using the nonhuman primate model of HCMV to guide vaccine development. [PDF]
The natural history of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is inextricably associated with mucosal surfaces. The vast preponderance of primary infections occur following mucosal exposure to infectious virions, and the high seroprevalence of HCMV throughout the ...

Preliminary Seroepidemiological Studies on the Human Syncytial Virus
The seroepidemiology of the human syncytial virus was investigated by means of an indirect immunofluorescence test on 241 sera from Kenya, Tunisia, Singapore and Britain. These included sera from patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, other tumours of the oro-nasopharynx, tumours of other parts of the body, and from normal donors.
