Referred Pain Manifestation and Its Impact on Patients With Temporomandibular Disorder

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate whether a higher number of sites eliciting referred pain upon palpation is associated with greater impairment in biopsychosocial aspects in TMD patients and identify variables that predict increased referred pain. Methods This cross‐sectional study analyzed data from 77 women with myalgia, assessing the number of sites

How copy number variations shape brain developmental disorders: Unraveling the synaptic puzzle

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, EarlyView.
Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), such as schizophrenia (SCZ), Attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities (ID), are highly prevalent. One significant genetic factor associated with NDDs is copy number variations (CNVs), which are structural changes in the ...

Possible involvement of keratinocyte‐derived microvesicle particles in human photosensitivity disorders

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
In this model, ROS generated by UVB result in PAFR agonists acting upon the PAFR resulting in MVP generation release via the enzyme aSMase. In photosensitivity, there are increased ROS, resulting in augmented PAF agonists and increased MVP release. This process can be blocked by aSMase inhibitors.

Isometric handgrip contraction increases tibialis anterior intrinsic motoneuron excitability in a dose‐dependent manner

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The contribution of persistent inward currents (PICs) to motoneuron firing in the lower limb typically increases after a remote handgrip contraction, believed to result from diffuse serotonergic input increases in spinal cord. We investigated whether handgrip contraction intensity, duration and/or impulse would affect PIC estimates in tibialis
