GluN2C/D‐containing NMDA receptors enhance temporal summation and increase sound‐evoked and spontaneous firing in the inferior colliculus

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Here, we find that GluN2D‐containing NMDA receptors (NMDARs) are expressed by most vasoactive intestinal peptide neurons in the inferior colliculus (IC). These receptors are less susceptible to Mg2+ blockade compared to GluN2A/B‐containing NMDARs, allowing ions to flow at resting membrane potential.

Recent optical approaches for anatomical and functional dissection of neuron–astrocyte circuitry

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This review summarises novel optical approaches to deciphering structural and functional wiring diagrams of neuron–astrocyte circuits in the brain. There are three groups: the anatomical proximity assay, transsynaptic viral tracing and the functional connection assay. The FRET‐based neuron–astrocyte proximity assay allows mapping

Efficient in vivo targeting of the myocardial scar using Moloney murine leukaemia virus complexed with nanoparticles

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The complexation of Moloney murine leukaemia virus (MMLV) with magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) greatly enhanced the transduction of (myo)fibroblasts (FB), when applied in a magnetic field, both in vitro and in vivo in cryoinjured mice.

Adeno‐associated virus‐based rescue of Myo7a expression restores hair‐cell function and improves hearing thresholds in a USH1B mouse strain

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Shaker‐1 mice, a murine model of Usher 1B syndrome, carry a mutation in the unconventional myosin MYO7A. This results in the progressive loss of the two shortest rows of stereocilia that house the mechanoelectrical transducer (MET) channels in hair cells, leading to deafness shortly after hearing onset.

Landscape of Prophylactic Strategies Against Human Parainfluenza Virus Type 3

open access: yesReviews in Medical Virology, Volume 35, Issue 6, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Human parainfluenza virus‐type 3 (HPIV3) is a respiratory virus responsible for mild illnesses in most of the population and severe illnesses, such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia, in young children, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly.
