Haemophilus pleuropneumoniae serotyping
Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1982A total of 126 Haemophilus strains isolated from porcine pneumonia were serotyped, using the indirect fluorescent-antibody technique. Of these, 103 were successfully typed within the recognized scheme of serotypes 1 to 5. Eleven strains were antigenically similar but were different from other strains of H. pleuropneumoniae or H. parasuis. These strains

The Relevance of Pneumococcal Serotypes
Current Infectious Disease Reports, 2014Pneumococcal disease leads to considerable mortality, morbidity and healthcare cost worldwide, and disease rates are predicted to increase due to an aging population. There are over 90 different pneumococcal serotypes identified to date, each with unique capsular characteristics capable of eliciting serotype-specific immunity in its host.

Anomalous Serotypes in Tetrahymena
The Journal of Protozoology, 1962SYNOPSIS. Novel serotypes appeared among the F2 progeny of a single cross involving alleles at the H locus. Two of the clones manifesting aberrant types have been subjected to breeding analysis. The aberrant phenotypes disappear at conjugation and have not been recovered in either F1 or F2.

PROVISIONAL SHIGELLA SEROTYPES
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1958The results of continued biochemical and serological studies on a number of previously described provisional Shigella serotypes are reported. On the basis of the results obtained it is suggested that provisional serotypes 58 and 2050-52 may now be added to Shigella subgroup A as Shigella dysenteriae 9 and S.

Veterinary Microbiology, 1987
Four hundred and forty-three Dutch field isolates of Haemophilus pleuropneumoniae were serotyped by rapid slide agglutination (RSA) using specific antisera against serotypes 1 to 5 and against the recently proposed types 6 to 9. The predominant serotypes were 9 (49%) and 2 (32%).

Serotyping of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1974Serotyping of Pseudomonas aeruginosa offers a specific, reproducible means of subspeciating this genus. It can be utilized for investigation of various parameters, such as prevalence of specific serotypes, predilection of these serotypes for sites in the patient, the relationships of environmental strains to colonized patients, and the prevalence of ...

Serotype replacement in perspective
Vaccine, 2009An increase in the incidence of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) caused by non-vaccine serotypes (NVTs) (serotype replacement) has been observed since the introduction of the seven-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7), primarily in the elderly, HIV-positive adults, and children with underlying medical conditions. In children aged

The Structural Basis for Serotype-Specific Neutralization of Dengue Virus by a Human Antibody
Science Translational Medicine, 2012The mechanism of action of a serotype-specific natural human antibody against dengue virus has been identified. Defeating Dengue Dengue virus is a major mosquito-borne viral pathogen that is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Infection

Serotype Antigens of Neisseria meningitidis and a Proposed Scbemefor Designation of Serotypes
Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1985Neisseria meningitidis serogroups B and C were originally subdivided into serotypes by the use of two different classification systems based upon type-specific bactericidal antibodies and immunoprecipitation in agar gels, respectively. The serotype specificities were later found to be associated with different major outer membrane proteins and with the
