Micropulse laser for persistent optic disc pit maculopathy. A case report

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2018
Purpose: Optic disc pits (ODP) are rare and congenital anomalies of the optic disc, sometimes remaining asymptomatic. However, serous macular detachment or optic disc maculopathy is the most common complication, causing significant visual deterioration ...

Medical treatment of early stage and rare histological variants of epithelial ovarian cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Epithelial ovarian cancer is often considered a single pathological entity, but increasing evidence suggests that it is rather a group of different neoplasms, each with unique pathological characteristics, molecular features, and clinical behaviours ...

Morphologic and Immunocytochemical Features of High-Grade Serous Carcinoma of Ovary in Ascitic Fluid Effusion and Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Clinical Pathology, 2020
OBJECTIVES High-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC) is the most common ovarian malignancy. The role of cytopathology in obtaining tissue diagnosis before institution of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) was evaluated.

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

A Case of Non-Resolving MEK Inhibitor-Associated Retinopathy

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology, 2019
The mitogen-activated kinase pathway plays an important role in cell survival, and its dysregulation is associated with cancers such as melanoma. Drugs designed to target this pathway have been associated with serous retinal detachments in a new entity ...

Validation of a Multivariate Serum Profile for Epithelial Ovarian Cancer Using a Prospective Multi-Site Collection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In previous studies we described the use of a retrospective collection of ovarian cancer and benign disease samples, in combination with a large set of multiplexed immunoassays and a multivariate pattern recognition algorithm, to develop an 11-biomarker ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
