Prevalence and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Salmonella in Retail Meat Collected from Different Markets in Sichuan, China

open access: yesPathogens
Salmonella is one of the most significant zoonotic and foodborne pathogens, and it is the leading cause of bacterial diarrhea. In this study, 156 retail meat samples were collected from three supermarkets and one local wet market in Sichuan, China ...

Phylogeny and divergence of the 100 most common Salmonella serovars available in the NCBI Pathogen Detection database

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Despite the emergence of whole genome sequencing (WGS) for Salmonella characterization, serotype assignment remains important as it allows identification of Salmonella subgroups that differ in distribution, virulence, and ecology.

Acute Leptospirosis Outbreak in Cattle: A Case Report

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
Leptospirosis is a globally distributed re‐emerging zoonotic disease caused by Leptospira species. In cattle, the clinical course varies from a subclinical‐chronic infection, commonly found in adult animals, to a severe acute syndrome mostly found in ...

Deciphering Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) Serogroup Cross-Reactivity in Leptospirosis: The Influence of Age and Antibody Titers

open access: yesTropical Medicine and Infectious Disease
Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Leptospira spp., with over 250 serovars classified into 24 serogroups. Control measures depend on understanding serovar-specific epidemiology, yet the microscopic agglutination test (MAT) is only serogroup ...

Comparative genomics of pathogenic Leptospira interrogans serovar Canicola isolated from swine and human in Brazil

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz
Leptospira interrogans serovar Canicola is one of the most important pathogenic serovars for the maintenance of urban leptospirosis. Even though it is considered highly adapted to dogs, serovar Canicola infection has already been described in other ...

[Salmonella serovars defined in Poland].

open access: yesPrzeglad epidemiologiczny, 2000
One hundred and sixty nine serovars of Salmonella, belonging to 28 different O groups, were defined in the National Salmonella Centre. All the serovars were isolated in Poland. Above 70% (121/169) of them belonged to five O groups--O:4 (31 serovars), O:7 (28 serovars), O:8 (27 serovars), O:3,10 (20 serovars) and O:9 (15 serovars).
