Perfil de aglutininas anti-Leptospira em bezerras búfalas vacinadas com bacterina pentavalente comercial contra leptospirose Serological response anti-Leptospira in female buffalo calves vaccinated with commercial pentavalent bacterin against leptospirosis

Artificial Irrigation Impacts the Seasonal Occurrence of Pathogenic Leptospira in Its Wild Reservoirs in a Mediterranean Environment

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Human activities play a significant role in the emergence of infectious diseases. We aimed to test whether artificial irrigation affects the occurrence of a zoonotic bacteria sensitive to desiccation, pathogenic Leptospira species (pathoLep), in micromammals inhabiting Mediterranean ecosystems.

In silico analysis of the whole genome of Salmonella enterica: genome assembly and annotation

open access: yesNorthwestern Medical Journal
Aim: The goal is to classify Salmonella enterica using whole genome sequencing reads and explore their functional profiles. This approach simplifies resolving phylogenetic ambiguities in higher taxa compared to traditional methods.

The use of computed tomography in a case of septic arthritis and osteomyelitis in a 2‐month‐old Holstein bull calf

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Summary A 2‐month‐old Holstein bull calf presented with a 1‐week history of left front limb lameness. Lameness evaluation demonstrated a Grade 3/5 lameness in the left front limb. Clinical examination revealed resistance to flexion and extension of the left shoulder region, with no associated swelling or joint effusion.

Sharing Is Caring?—Pathogens and Pathogen‐Specific Antibodies in Arctic Endemic Seal Species and the Newly Sympatric Harbor Seals in Kongsfjorden, Svalbard

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change associated transformations of Arctic marine ecosystems are having detrimental impacts on Arctic endemic marine mammals. However, warming conditions are providing new habitats for temperate marine mammals, some of which are expanding into Arctic regions, posing a threat of novel pathogen introduction and disease transmission.

Rapid Discrimination of Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhi from Other Serovars by MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Systemic infections caused by Salmonella enterica are an ongoing public health problem especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. Essentially typhoid fever is associated with high mortality particularly because of the increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant strains.
