Serranidae Smith and Craig (2007) have revised the Serranidae in a molecular study; they suggest to recognize the families Epinephelidae and Serranidae (the latter containing three subfamilies, namely Anthiinae, Serraninae, and Trachininae) and to include them in the Scorpaenoidei. We have adhered to the old classification here.

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2015
In the present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Serranidae sp. was determined first. The entire mitochondrial genome of Serranidae sp. is 16 512 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA) and 2 main non-coding regions (the control region and the origin of the light-strand ...

New microsatellite resources for groupers (Serranidae)
Molecular Ecology Notes, 2006AbstractWe characterized nine microsatellite loci and identified an additional 60 genomic regions containing microsatellites in the red hind grouper, Epinephelus guttatus. The nine loci were highly polymorphic, and primers designed from red hind genomic DNA produced a strong amplification product in a test panel of 16 other groupers in the genera ...

Bioeconomics of Grouper, Serranidae: Epinephelinae, Culture in Vietnam
Reviews in Fisheries Science, 2013This article presents technical and bioeconomic information on culture-based grow-out production of groupers in Vietnam. Grouper farming has good future potential as a viable alternative livelihood for fishers. It is found to be very profitable for cage farmers in northern Vietnam and marginally profitable for cage and pond farmers in central Vietnam ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of Grammistes sexlineatus (Perciformes, Serranidae)
Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014The complete mitochondrial genome of Grammistes sexlineatus was first determined and studied in the present study. The mitochondrial genome was 16,502 nucleotides that contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and one putative control region. The overall base composition of G.
