Diffusible Serum Calcium

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1970
To the Editor.— In a patient with proven hyperparathyroidism, who demonstrated normocalcemia for a 12-month period ( 210 :2063, 1969), repeated total serum calcium values were within the normal range of the reporting laboratory: 8.8 to 11.0 per 100 ml. Though hypercalcemia is considered to be the most constant finding in primary hyperparathyroidism, a

Determination of lonized calcium in serum with a calcium electrode

Biochemical Medicine, 1970
Abstract Using a calcium-sensitive electrode, the determination of ionic calcium in human serum was investigated. Serum samples obtained from 17 healthy individuals yielded the following data: total calcium 9.63 ± 1.11 mg 100 ml ; ionized calcium 4.72 ± 0.61 mg 100 ml ; and bound calcium, 4.91 ± 0.83 mg 100 ml .

Determination of serum and urine calcium

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1967
Abstract Equipment for quantitative visualization of the fluorometric end point in the titration of calcium with EDTA using calcein indicator is described. Results with pooled serum had an acceptable standard deviation and agreement with isolation as the oxalate was excellent.
