Neutralization of Bacteriophage by Normal Serum

Nature, 1959
NORMAL mammalian serum of most species is capable of neutralizing bacteriophages of the Escherichia coli T series. This activity of normal serum has been attributed to the properdin system although a lack of correlation between properdin-levels and phage-neutralizing activity was noted with certain sera1.

Venom Neutralization by Rattlesnake Serum Albumin

Science, 1969
The blood serum of the eastern diamond back rattlesnake ( Crotalus adamanteus ) neutralizes lethal doses of C. adamanteus venom in mice. The protective capacity of the serum is associated with the serum albumin, rather than the immunoglobulin fraction of the blood.

Serum Neutralizing Antibody After Rabies Postexposure Prophylaxis

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1976
One hundred seventy-seven persons submitted specimens for serum neutralizing antibody titer detreminations 30 to 90 days after starting postexposure rabies prophylaxis. Ninety-two percent of those who received duck embryo vaccine alone developed adequate antibody titers.

Serum Enterotoxin-neutralizing Antibody in Human Shigellosis

Nature New Biology, 1973
THE neurotoxin of Shiga's bacillus (Shigella dysenteriae 1), known for 70 years1 and nearly as potent as botulinus toxin2, has not been considered to play a role in human shigellosis3, partly because no strain of shigella other than Shiga's has been found to produce the exotoxin2.

Virus Neutralizing Antibodies in Pooled Human Serum

The Journal of Immunology, 1953
Summary The titer of neutralizing antibodies to Coxsackie viruses in pooled human serum and human gamma globulin has been estimated in samples covering a period of twelve years. The construction of antibody titer curves for each infective agent demonstrated marked differences in the behaviour of some of the Coxsackie viruses.

Neutral α-mannosidase activity in human serum

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1976
Two types of alpha-mannosidase (alpha-D-mannoside mannohydrolase, EC 3.2.1.24) with neutral pH optima exist in serum. The activity with an optimum between pH 6.0 and 6.4 is similar to alpha-mannosidase C, described earlier in tissues. The second activity, with a pH optimum between pH 5.2 and 5.8 is the dominant form in serum.
