Serum proteins neutralize the toxic effect of lysophosphatidyl choline

Current Eye Research, 1982
Lysophosphatidyl choline (LPC), which has been shown to be toxic to the lens in organ culture, is markedly elevated in uveitic eyes. These findings have led to the suggestion that LPC is an initiator of cataractogenesis in uveitis. We report here that a factor not considered by previous investigators, i.e.

Neutralization of Bee Venom Lethality by Immune Serum Antibodies

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1996
The lethal effects of Africanized honey bee venom depend on the absorption of venom delivered during simultaneous sting attacks by large numbers of bees. The hypothesis that antibodies to whole bee venom and bee venom components could neutralize the lethal effect of bee venom was tested.

Assay of Partially Neutralized Guinea Pig Anti-insulin Serum

Endocrinology, 1967
Constant volumes of guinea pig anti-insulin serum (GPAIS) were first incubated for 1 hr at 36 C with variable amounts of bovine, pork, human, rat and cod insulins, residual reactive insulin antibodies being then assayed under varied experimental conditions using mixtures of unlabeled and 131I-labeled bovine insulin.

[Neutral proteinase from brain, hydrolyzing serum albumin].

Biokhimiia (Moscow, Russia), 1982
The regional, cellular and subcellular distribution of neutral proteinase hydrolyzing serum albumin in the brain was studied. The enzyme was detected in soluble cell fraction. The neutral proteinase activity in the neuron cell enriched fraction from the cat cortex was 4 times as high as that in the glia.

The effect of the virus-serum incubation period upon vaccinia virus serum neutralization titers

Journal of Biological Standardization, 1987
Rabbit and human vaccinia virus immune sera were titrated by the plaque reduction serum neutralization (SN) method. Titers determined following a 2-h, 37 degree C virus-serum incubation period were not significantly different from those determined following an 18-h incubation period (2-h, 37 degree C incubation followed by a 16-h, 4 degree C period ...
