The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Hindi language film Swades: We, the People: A different kind of journey to the East.

open access: yes, 2013
The analysis of motion picture depictions of leadership, as noted by numerous scholars of leadership education, lends itself well as a tool for conveying core values of leadership.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The Public Servant Is Dead: Long Live the Public Servant

open access: yes
In this chapter we pull together the insights of the chapters that comprise this Handbook and use these to reflect on what the future public servant needs to know.

Alexandre Bontemps, « favori » de Louis XIV ?

open access: yesBulletin du Centre de Recherche du Château de Versailles, 2018
The concept of favourites is complex, and over time its terminology has evolved. While it initially assumed a military aspect – which in the second half of the seventeenth century could, to a lesser extent, still be the case, according to Jules-Louis ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A dialogic reimagining of a servant's suffering: understanding second Isaiah's servant of Yahweh as a polyphonic hero

open access: yes, 2007
A definitive identification of the Servant figure of Second Isaiah is notoriously difficult, as attested by centuries of conjecture and debate. The interpretive obstacles are profuse: the Servant is addressed as Israel-Jacob, but then spoken of in terms ...

Literárněvědná bohemistika a dějiny kulturních zprostředkování (k nedávným příkladům ve Francii) // Czech Literary Studies and the History of Cultural Mediation (On Several Recent Examples in France) [PDF]

open access: yesSlovo a Smysl, 2015
The paper offers several remarks on the history of cultural mediation and cultural mediators in connection with the current state of Czech literary studies in France. Within the given field, more and more productive also in the area of Central European

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
