Academic Questions, 2008Mixing community service with college students’ learning is a bad idea. When service-learning was promoted in a newspaper op-ed by Dr. Robert L. Caret, the president of Towson University (where I have taught for over two decades), I responded skeptically. Dr. Caret’s follow-up letter suggested that I misunderstood service-learning.
