Research of Mechanical Resonance Analysis and Suppression Control Method of the Servo Drive System

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Transmission mechanisms of the servo drive system are not a pure rigid body, and the existence of the elastic transmission mechanisms will make the system generate mechanical resonance.

Why Effective Medium Theory Fails in Granular Materials

open access: yes, 1999
Experimentally it is known that the bulk modulus, K, and shear modulus, \mu, of a granular assembly of elastic spheres increase with pressure, p, faster than the p^1/3 law predicted by effective medium theory (EMT) based on Hertz-Mindlin contact forces ...

Multiobjective Codesign Optimization of a Planar Pneumatic Artificial Muscle‐Based Snake‐Like Robot for Enhanced Agility and Energy Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...

Optimum design and analysis of flexure-based mechanism for non-circular diamond turning operation

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
The flexure-based fast tool servo, which is well adopted to manufacture non-circular section parts, has attracted many researchers’ attention for its cutting-edge characteristics in non-circular turning operation in terms of large output displacement ...

Television noise reduction device [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
A noise reduction system that divides the color video signal into its luminance and chrominance components is reported. The luminance component of a given frame is summed with the luminance component of at least one preceding frame which was stored on a ...

Proportional-integral-plus (PIP) control of the ALSTOM gasifier problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Although it is able to exploit the full power of optimal state variable feedback within a non-minimum state-space (NMSS) setting, the proportional-integral-plus (PIP) controller is simple to implement and provides a logical extension of conventional ...

A Proof‐of‐Concept Assessment of a Novel Wearable Eyelid Muscle Device: A Pre‐Clinical Animal Cadaver Study for Eyelid Closure Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
