Transcriptomic, biochemical and physio-anatomical investigations shed more light on responses to drought stress in two contrasting sesame genotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Sesame is an important oilseed crop with a high oil quality. It is prone to drought stress in the arid and semi-arid areas where it is widely grown. This study aims to decipher the response of tolerant (DT) and sensitive (DS) genotypes to progressive ...

Detecting Convergence of Amino Acid Physicochemical Properties Underlying the Organismal Adaptive Convergent Evolution

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 8, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Many studies have proposed various comparative genomic methods to probe the molecular basis for adaptive functional convergence between species, conventionally by detecting the convergence of amino acid states between orthologous protein sequences of these species or lineages.

Phosphorylation‐Induced Degradation of Pepper Dehydration‐Related Homeobox Gene 12 (CaDRHB12), a Negative Regulator of Drought Response in Pepper, by CaSnRK2.6 Enhances Drought Tolerance

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 11, Page 5178-5196, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Homeodomain‐leucine zipper (HD‐ZIP) transcription factors, particularly subfamily I genes, are associated with drought stress responses. However, the functional roles of HD‐ZIP subfamily II genes, particularly in pepper (Capsicum annuum), remain inadequately studied, and their involvement in abscisic acid (ABA) signalling is not fully ...

Preliminary Characterization of Monofloral Helianthus annuus L. Bee Pollen Using Advanced Analytical Techniques: A Comparative Study With Polyfloral Pollen

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
This study characterized monofloral sunflower bee pollen using palynological, physicochemical, and metabolomic analyses. LC–MS/MS results revealed significantly higher hyperoside levels in the monofloral pollen. The data obtained support the potential of sunflower pollen in functional food formulations.
