Structure and stability of common sesquiterpenes

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2002
We present data on the electronic structure, polarity and relative stability of 14 common sesquiterpenes. The data were obtained by a combination of spectroscopic and high-level theoretical analysis. The discussion also includes comments on possible implication of molecular properties for physiological behaviour.

Sesquiterpenes—IV

Tetrahedron, 1963
Abstract A simple qualitative procedure is outlined for the conformational analysis of cycloheptane derivatives with particular attention to the natural perhydroazulenes. The procedure allows discrimination amongst different configuration and conformational isomers on grounds of thermodynamic stability.

Anti-inflammatory sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpene dimers fromChloranthus fortunei

Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2012
A novel lindenane sesquiterpene with an unprecedented 18-membered triester ring, named chlorafortulide (1), along with one known lindenane sesquiterpene (2) and nine known lindenane sesquiterpene dimers (3-11), was isolated from the whole plant of Chloranthus fortunei.

Lessons from 1,3-Hydride Shifts in Sesquiterpene Cyclizations.

Angewandte Chemie, 2016
Stereospecifically labelled precursors were subjected to conversion by seven bacterial sesquiterpene cyclases to investigate the stereochemistry of their initial 1,10-cyclisation-1,3-hydride shift cascades.

Sesquiterpene Phenylpropanoid and Sesquiterpene Chromone Derivatives from Ferula pallida

Journal of Natural Products, 2000
Four novel compounds-two sesquiterpene phenylpropanoid derivatives, pallidones G (1) and H (2), and two sesquiterpene chromone derivatives, pallidones I (3) and J (4)-have been isolated from the roots of Ferula pallida. Their structures were determined on the basis of NMR and HREIMS evidence.

ChemInform Abstract: Sesquiterpene Lactones of the Umbelliferae

ChemInform, 1986
Abstract A survey of sesquiterpene lactones from the species of Umbelliferae is presented. The structures based on predominantly undescribed stereostructural types were derived for the majority of these lactones.

Sesquiterpenes of the liverwort Scapania undulata

Phytochemistry, 2004
The essential oil of the liverwort Scapania undulata, collected in the Harz mountains, Northern Germany, was analysed by gas chromatography (GC), GC-mass spectrometry (MS) and several new components were isolated and investigated by various NMR techniques.
