A bounded-error approach to simultaneous state and actuator fault estimation for a class of nonlinear systems [PDF]
This paper proposes an approach for the joint state and fault estimation for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with simultaneous unknown input and actuator faults.

Improved set-membership estimation approach based on zonotopes and ellipsoids [PDF]
This paper presents an improved approach for guaranteed state estimation combining set-membership estimation techniques based on zonotopes and ellipsoids, applied on linear discrete-time systems with unknown but bounded perturbations and noises. The proposed approach starts with a zonotopic approximation and continues with an ellipsoidal approximation;

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Comparison between two state estimation techniqueds for linear systems [PDF]
20th World Congress of the International Federation of Automatic Control, Jul 2017, Toulouse, FranceThis paper presents a comparison in terms of accuracy and complexity between two approaches used for state estimation of linear systems: a classic Kalman

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

An Intelligent Spatial Proximity System Using Neurofuzzy Classifiers and Contextual Information [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a novel approach to reason with spatial proximity. The approach is based on contextual information and uses a neurofuzzy classifier to handle the uncertainty aspect of proximity.

Methods of estimating competence as a system of fuzzy statements [PDF]
The work is based on estimation of competence as a fuzzy event, the reliability of which is determined by the membership function; the method of competence evaluation based on fuzzy statements is proposed, which creates a system of compositional rules

Social capital and immigrants' labour market performance [PDF]
This paper analyses the role of social capital on immigrants’ labour market outcomes. We use the “principal component analysis” (PCA) to build an index of social networks and explore its impact on the probability of getting a job and on wage levels ...

This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
