Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

P-Algebras

open access: yesAxioms
Following the notions of Ω-set and Ω-algebra where Ω is a complete lattice, we introduce P-algebras, replacing the lattice Ω by a poset P. A P-algebra is a classical algebraic structure in which the usual equality is replaced by a P-valued equivalence ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hull-concave set-valued functions

open access: yes, 1994
A set-valued function F is called hull-concave ifF(tx + (1-t)y) ⊂ co(tF(x) + (1-t)F(y))for all x,y from the domain of F and all t∈[0,1]. It is shown that if a hull-concave set-valued function F is defined on an open convex subset D of ℝn and for ...

Grey-box radial basis function modelling

open access: yes, 2011
A fundamental principle in data modelling is to incorporate available a priori information regarding the underlying data generating mechanism into the modelling process.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Modelling and inverting complex-valued Wiener systems

open access: yes
We develop a complex-valued (CV) B-spline neural network approach for efficient identification and inversion of CV Wiener systems. The CV nonlinear static function in the Wiener system is represented using the tensor product of two univariate B-spline ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
