Homelessness and Housing Instability Among Care Leavers in Australia: Exploring Housing Pathways and Best Practice Housing Models

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A significant proportion of young people exiting Out‐of‐Home Care (OOHC) encounter substantial challenges in securing housing, often leading to homelessness within a few months after leaving care. Evidence for self-cleaning in gecko setae [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2005
A tokay gecko can cling to virtually any surface and support its body mass with a single toe by using the millions of keratinous setae on its toe pads. Each seta branches into hundreds of 200-nm spatulae that make intimate contact with a variety of surface profiles.

Long‐term changes to plankton communities in artificially heated lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Increased surface‐water temperatures and nutrient enrichment are predicted to alter planktonic communities, impacting biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. While short‐term mesocosm studies have reported temperature‐ and nutrient‐driven effects, long‐term observations from natural systems remain limited.

Hexanoic Acid Intake Enhances Anti‐Tumor Immune Responses in Colorectal Cancer by Reducing the Immunosuppressive Function of Tregs

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
This study found hexanoic acid (HA), a fatty acid in milk, inhibits colorectal cancer by enhancing anti‐tumor immune responses. HA suppresses naïve CD4+ T cell differentiation into Tregs, reduces the immunosuppressive activity of Tregs against CD8+ T cells, and decreases tumor infiltration of Tregs.

Fabrication and adhesion of hierarchical micro-seta [PDF]

open access: yesChinese Science Bulletin, 2012
Spark-erosion perforating technology was used to fabricate a Cu-based template characterized by pores with radius of 0.5 mm inclined at 75°. A commercial silicone elastomer of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) with a rich Si-H content was used to produce an inclined array of primary setae.

Glycoproteomics and Its Role in Understanding Bacterial O‐Linked Glycosylation

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Protein glycosylation is now recognized as a ubiquitous process observed in all domains of life. Within bacterial species, carbohydrates can be attached to multiple residues with glycosylation of serine, threonine, or tyrosine residues via their hydroxyl side chains referred to as O‐linked glycosylation.
