CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

A GIS Analysis of Coastal Proximity with a Prehistoric Greek Case Study

open access: yesJournal of Computer Applications in Archaeology
This study introduces and operationalises the concept of Coastal Proximity Analysis (CPA), a methodological framework aimed at examining settlement patterns in relation to their coastal proximity.

Does settlement plate material matter? The influence of substrate type on fouling community development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Benthic community composition and ascidian abundance can differ dramatically between adjacent man-made and natural substrates. Although multiple factors, including light exposure, surface orientation, predation exposure, and habitat type, are known to ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Natural environment and settlement in Chonge District, Eastern Muri Mountains, Northeastern Nigeria : an interdisciplinary case study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The craggy and hilly Muri Mountains, which are situated to the north of the Benue Lowlands, are an area with a complex pattern of settlement. This roughly 80 km long and 20 km wide mountainous area is inhabited by about 20 ethnic groups belonging to ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Cerro San Antonio (L1): A Palimpsest of the South-Central Andean Past (ca. 1500 BC - AD 1950) in the Middle Locumba Valley, Tacna, Peru

open access: yesBulletin de l'Institut Français d'Études Andines
The site of Cerro San Antonio sprawls over 160 hectares of rocky hills and windswept blufftops that overlook the final confluence of the Locumba drainage before the river continues on to empty in the Pacific, just 35 kilometers away.

Variation in habitat choice and delayed reproduction: Adaptive queuing strategies or individual quality differences? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In most species, some individuals delay reproduction or occupy inferior breeding positions. The queue hypothesis tries to explain both patterns by proposing that individuals strategically delay breeding (queue) to acquire better breeding or social ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Quantitative Political Geography: GIS Baseline Model for the Political-Spatial Structure of the Shang-Zhou Period Shandong Region

open access: yesLand
Traditional scholarship on early Chinese political geography has largely privileged textual analysis, often lacking quantifiable baselines for assessing spatial structure.
