Modification of Peck Formula to Predict Ground Surface Settlement of Twin Tunnels in Low Permeability Soil

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
Accurate prediction of surface settlement induced by tunnel excavation is significant for preventing damage to existing structures under complex geological conditions.

Observational Procedure of Settlement Prediction

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 1978
ABSTRACT The use of analytical solution of consolidation equation for settlement prediction is not always effective since such conditions as an initial distribution of excess pore water pressure, drain length, final vertical strain of soils and the coefficient of consolidation are sometimes quite uncertain in practical engineering problems.

Settlement monitoring and prediction towards an enhanced characterization of soil stratigraphy: a case study of a 23-story building [PDF]

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
The settlement is a critical factor in foundation selection. To ensure the safety and stability of a structure, engineers must accurately predict settlement and design the foundation accordingly.

Long‐Term Outcomes of Patients With Relapsed/Refractory Neuroblastoma Treated on ANBL1221: A Report From the Children's Oncology Group

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Results of COG ANBL1221 changed treatment paradigms for patients with relapsed/refractory neuroblastoma. Chemoimmunotherapy with irinotecan/temozolomide/dinutuximab is now used as both bridge therapy following suboptimal response to induction and as treatment in first relapse.

Predictions of ground surface settlement for shield tunnels in sandy cobble stratum based on stochastic medium theory and empirical formulas

open access: yesUnderground Space, 2023
This paper focuses on the prediction of ground surface settlement induced by shield tunnelling in sandy cobble stratum. Based on the stochastic medium theory, an analytical solution to predict the surface settlement is developed considering the ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Prediction of Buildings’ Settlement Induced by Metro Station Deep Foundation Pit Construction

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The construction of deep foundation pits in subway stations can affect the settlement of existing buildings adjacent to the pits to varying degrees. In this paper, the Long Short-Term Memory neural network prediction model of building settlement caused ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Monitoring and analysis of settlement and deformation status of high-rise buildings based on nonlinear regression

open access: yesMeasurement: Sensors
In order to solve the problems of low reliability and poor prediction accuracy in traditional building structure settlement monitoring, the author proposes a monitoring and analysis of high-rise building settlement deformation status based on nonlinear ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
