High Strength of Aluminium-Based Composites by Different Methods of Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD)

Materials Science Forum, 2022
Composite materials were applied to meet the demands of production efficiency on industrial because they offered the superior properties both of aspects on mechanical and physical properties were constantly being refined and developed with several methods.

Severe plastic deformation (SPD) and nanostructured materials by machining

Journal of Materials Science, 2007
Large plastic strains between 1 and 15 can be imposed in chips formed by plane-strain (2-D) machining of metals and alloys. This approach has been used to examine microstructure changes induced by large strain deformation in model systems—copper and its alloys, precipitation-hardenable aluminum alloys, high-strength materials such as titanium, Inconel ...

Mechanical Properties of SPD (Severe Plastic Deformation) Processed Copper

Materials Science Forum, 2005
The mechanical behavior of nano grain-sized pure copper produced by various SPD (severe plastic deformation) processes such as ECAP (equal channel angular pressing) and ARB (accumulated roll bonding) was investigated in relation to the microstructural evolution. These processes promoted the formation of equiaxed nanoscale grains in pure copper.

Microstructural and mechanical properties of magnesium alloy processed by severe plastic deformation (SPD) – A review

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
Abstract A review on Mechanical properties of ultra-fined grained (UFG) Magnesium based alloy using SPD process is presented in this paper. The properties discussed comprise of microstructural, optical, physical and mechanical behaviour of Ultra- fined grained magnesium alloy and effects of grain size, heat treatment, Extrusion and Annealing ...

Indentation Size Effect (ISE) in Copper Subjected to Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD)

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2014
The characteristic length scale of deformation in copper specimens subjected to severe plastic deformation (SPD) through surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) was studied with indentation experiments. Annealed copper disks were shot peened with 6-mm diameter tungsten carbide spheres with an average velocity of 2.3 m/s for 15 minutes in a ...

Synthesis of Hybrid Materials by Severe Plastic Deformation: A New Paradigm of SPD Processing

Advanced Engineering Materials, 2015
An emerging direction of research into severe plastic deformation (SPD), which we refer to as SPD‐induced synthesis of hybrid materials, is presented. At its core is the creation of inner structure made from various materials within the bulk of a solid.

Microstructure Refinement During Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) of FCC Materials: A Texture Based Study

Materials Science Forum, 2011
FCC materials were subjected to large strain deformation by three techniques: equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), plane-strain machining and friction stir processing (FSP). Based on the orientation imaging mapping (OIM) analysis of the deformed regions, the most likely microstructure refinement mechanisms have been identified for each of the ...

Modelling Mechanical Properties of SPD Materials During and After Severe Plastic Deformation

2006
As SPD yields ultra fine grained and/or nanograined structures, modelling of properties at first requires a proper reflection of grain refinement process. A model of the author originally developed for conventional large strain hardening has been successfully adapted to conditions of extended hydrostatic pressure which appears as one of the most ...

Ultrafine-grained low carbon steels by severe plastic deformation (SPD)

2008
The structure and properties of 0, 14% C and 0, 1% C - B low-carbon steels taken in two initial states, martensitic and ferritic-pearlitic, were studied after cold equal-channel angular (ECA) pressing. ECA pressing leads to the formation of only partially submicrocrystalline structure with a grain size of 150 – 300 nm, depending on the steel alloying ...

Single Roll Drive Equal Channel Angular Process –a Potential Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) Process for Industrial Application

Materials Science Forum, 2006
Single roll drive equal channel angular process (SRD-ECAP) is derived from classical equal channel angular pressing (ECAP). It overcomes the drawbacks of ECAP, which is a discontinuous process and can only process short billets with invariable square or round section. SRD-ECAP, however, can process long billets continuously.
