Ruin probabilities and decompositions for general perturbed risk processes [PDF]
We study a general perturbed risk process with cumulative claims modelled by a subordinator with finite expectation, with the perturbation being a spectrally negative Levy process with zero expectation.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Risk Measures for Classical and Perturbed Risk Processes - a Survey [PDF]
2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 60B10, 60G17, 60G51, 62P05.In this review paper we consider several risk measures in actuarial mathematics, such as the ruin probability, the ruin time, the severity of ruin, the surplus immediately before ruin ...

URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE AND BUILDINGS IN RUINS: DAMAGE SEVERITY MAPPING OF NEIGHBORHOODS AFFECTED BY THE JUNE 2018 WINDSTORM IN BAUCHI [PDF]
Abstract. Bauchi for the first time in history experienced a horrific windstorm that lasted for not more than 2 hours, but destroyed more than 20 lives and thousands urban infrastructure. This study examines the monumental damage on buildings and structures as a result of the June, 2018 windstorm disaster event in Bauchi.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

On the Probability and Severity of Ruin [PDF]
In the usual model of the collective risk theory, we are interested in the severity of ruin, as well as its probability. As a quantitative measure, we propose G(u, y), the probability that for given initial surplus u ruin will occur and that the deficit ...
