Hyperglycemia as an atypical finding of malignant hyperthermia: A case report and literature review
A 13‐month‐old toddler presented with an atypical symptom – hyperglycemia – during a malignant hyperthermia crisis. During MH, hyperglycemia may result from intracellular calcium leakage in muscle cells, suggesting a potential association between MH susceptibility and hyperglycemia.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a critical syndrome that is associated with a high morbidity and mortality in patients. Sevoflurane has a lung protective effect in ALI as it reportedly has anti-inflammatory and apoptotic-regulating activity.

Background: The mechanisms underlying social dysfunction caused by repeated sevoflurane in early life remain unclear. Whether the gut microbiota–metabolite–brain axis is involved in the mechanism of sevoflurane developmental neurotoxicity still lacks ...

Sugammadex-Enhanced Neuronal Apoptosis following Neonatal Sevoflurane Exposure in Mice
In rodents, neonatal sevoflurane exposure induces neonatal apoptosis in the brain and results in learning deficits. Sugammadex is a new selective neuromuscular blockade (NMB) binding agent that anesthesiologists can use to achieve immediate reversal of ...

Exposure to Sevoflurane Affects the Development of Parvalbumin Interneurons in the Main Olfactory Bulb in Mice [PDF]
Sevoflurane is widely used in adult and pediatric patients during clinical surgeries. Although studies have shown that exposure to sevoflurane impairs solfactory memory after an operation, the neuropathological changes underlying this effect are not ...

Desflurane Selectively Suppresses Long-latency Cortical Neuronal Response to Flash in the Rat [PDF]
Background—The effect of inhalational anesthetics on sensory-evoked unit activity in the cerebral cortex has been controversial. Desflurane has desirable properties for in vivo neurophysiologic studies but its effect on cortical neuronal activity and ...

ABSTRACT Our aim was to investigate whether vatinoxan, a peripherally acting alpha2‐adrenoceptor antagonist, would affect the concentrations of medetomidine, midazolam, and fentanyl in the central nervous system after subcutaneous co‐administration. Twelve healthy male Wistar rats, aged between 13 and 15 weeks, were used in this study.
