Age-related effects on sex chromosome aberrations in equine spermatozoa

Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, 2014
Many chromosomal anomalies resulting from meiotic disorders lead to the formation of gametes that are incapable of reproductive function and are spontaneously eliminated. However, formation of a zygote with structurally or numerically abnormal genome most often produces a lethal effect early in fetal life.

Sex chromosome aberrations involving loss and translocation of tumor-inducing loci inXiphophorus

Experientia, 1979
Karyotypic changes involving a deletion and a translocation of certain sex-linked tumor-inducing loci of the platyfish, Platypoecilus (Xiphophorus) maculatus, have been investigated. The effects of these chromosome aberrations on tumor formation and viability of the fish are discussed.

Genetic counselling for patients with fetal sex chromosome aberrations

Nauchno-prakticheskii zhurnal «Medicinskaia genetika», 2020

[Undescended testis and hypospadia in sex chromosomal aberrations].

Klinische Padiatrie, 1999
If hermaphrodite genitals are present in the patient or a higher degree of hypospadia is shown with maldescensus testis, a chromosomal disorder must be considered as one potential cause of the anomaly. The case report of a child with cryptorchidism on the right, inguinal testis on the left and penoscrotal hypospadia is presented as an example. A mosaic

Sister chromatid exchanges and structural chromosome aberrations in relation to age and sex

Human Genetics, 1982
Sister chromatid exchanges (SCE) and structural chromosome aberrations were analyzed in peripheral blood lymphocytes of 100 individuals, and correlated to age and sex. No correlation was found between the frequency of SCE and age, but older individuals had significantly more structural aberrations than younger.

[Sex chromosome aberrations in patients with menstruation disorders].

Journal de gynecologie, obstetrique et biologie de la reproduction, 1991
We studied 150 women with primary/secondary amenorrhea and/or oligomenorrhea; in 61 cases we found an abnormal karyotype (i.e. 40.7%): 51 cases in the first group of 110 patients with amenorrhea (i.e. 46%) and 10 cases in the second group of 40 patients with oligomenorrhea and/or secondary amenorrhea (i.e. 25%).

[Sex chromosome aberration screening among male psychiatric patients (author's transl)].

Archiv fur Psychiatrie und Nervenkrankheiten, 1976
The authors report of sex chromosome aberration screenings among the patients of the male psychiatric department, University Medical School, Pecs. 310 patients were investigated. The X-chromatin was detected in buccal smears with thionin-staining and the Y-chromatin in peripheric blood smears with quinacrin-staining by the help of fluorescentoptical ...

Aberrant sex chromosome mechanisms in mammals. Evolutionary aspects.

Differentiation; research in biological diversity, 1991
There are a number of mammalian species with complicated or unknown mechanisms for sex determination. The literature is reviewed with special reference to the origin and evolution of the sex chromosome mechanisms in three species of monotremes and in the following species of rodents: the creeping vole (Microtus oregoni), the mole vole (Ellobius ...
