Male refractory hypospadias with sexual reversal: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2023
Abstract Background Hypospadias is one of the most prevalent urogenital malformations in clinic. However, some hypospadias may have a more complex disorder of sex development. Usually, hypospadias in these patients is severe. Among them, the 46,XX male sex reversal syndrome is a rare disorder of sex development, and this

Adaptation to human populations is revealed by within-host polymorphisms in HIV-1 and hepatitis C virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
CD8(+) cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs) perform a critical role in the immune control of viral infections, including those caused by human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and hepatitis C virus (HCV).

Sexual inactivity results in reversible reduction of LH bioavailability [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Impotence Research, 2002
We have recently documented significantly reduced serum testosterone (T) levels in patients with erectile dysfunction (ED). To understand the mechanism of this hypotestosteronemia, which was independent of the etiology of ED, and its reversibility only in patients in whom a variety of nonhormonal therapies restored sexual activity, we measured serum ...

Prevention of SIV rectal transmission and priming of T cell responses in macaques after local pre-exposure application of tenofovir gel [PDF]

Reversion Rate Estimates

open access: yes, 2013
Best (filled diamonds) estimates of the reversion rate in each of the seven datasets. Best estimates are shown ±1 standard error. Escape and reversion may require additional compensatory mutations which will limit the occurrence of escape or reversion ...

Rapid evolution of sex pheromone-producing enzyme expression in Drosophila. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2009
A wide range of organisms use sex pheromones to communicate with each other and to identify appropriate mating partners. While the evolution of chemical communication has been suggested to cause sexual isolation and speciation, the mechanisms that govern

Proporción Sexual y parámetros de producción de Oreochromis niloticus “Tilapia”

open access: yesManglar, 2023

On sexual behavior and sex-role reversal

open access: yesJournal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2005
Sex is not about reproduction; sex is about (re-)combination of DNA. Sex, not reproduction, always involves physical contact between two individuals; to achieve this, strategies of sexual behavior evolved. Sexual behavior, therefore, did not evolve as part of a reproductive strategy, but evolved to enable exchange of genetic material.

Growth stanza in fish life history using otoliths shape: the protandric Centropomus case (Carangaria: Centropomidae)

open access: yesNeotropical Ichthyology, 2021
Morphoanatomical or physiological changes coupled with changes in body size are known as allometric relationships. The objective of this study was to identify the points of growth changes in Centropomus based on otolith morphometry and morphogeometry ...
