Epigenetic Markers of Cell Division and Ageing in Relation to Breast Cancer Survival

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breast cancer remains a major challenge to public health. Biomarkers may be useful to improve prediction of breast cancer survival. Several epigenetic markers of cell division and ageing based on DNA methylation have been proposed. In this study, we measured these epigenetic markers in breast tumours and assessed their prognostic value.

Effect of 11β-hydroxyandrostenedione (OHA) on the gonadal differentiation in whitefish Coregonus lavaretus L.

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2015
Monosex stocks of fish become increasingly important in the aquaculture. In fish with male heterogamety, mating females with neo-males i.e. hormonally sex reversed (masculinized) females results in “all-female” stocks.

Macrophage extracellular vesicles deliver Mef2d proteins to aggravate Bacteroides fragilis pathogenicity in type 2 diabetes arterial calcification

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) arterial calcification and can be activated by macrophage‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). BF takes up EVs via receptor‐mediated endocytosis, and activation is induced by EV‐derived Mef2d, thereby inhibiting ArsR family transcriptional regulator transcription.

Impact of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator modulator therapies on liver stiffness and liver enzymes: An observational perspective single‐center cohort study

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives The efficacy of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR)‐modulator therapies in preventing or ameliorating cystic fibrosis liver disease (CFLD) by correcting CFTR in cholangiocytes is not well‐documented. This study aimed to assess liver function during CFTR‐modulators.

Seleção de matrizes e clones de mangabeira para o cultivo in vitro Selection of parents and clones of mangabeira for in vitro cultivation

Plasmepsins as Antimalarial Drug Targets—Then, Now, and the Future

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Malaria is a devastating disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. Plasmodium parasites express ten cathepsin D‐like aspartyl proteases, called plasmepsins (PMs). These PMs have diverse roles fulfill diverse functions throughout the parasite's lifecycle, though several exhibit functional redundancies. Among them, PMV, PMIV, and PMX are essential

Dynamic miRNA landscapes unlock sexual plasticity in protogynous orange-spotted grouper under MT-implantation

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
Sex change, a manifestation of sexual plasticity, is widespread among fish, yet its molecular regulatory mechanisms, particularly those involving miRNAs, remain largely unresolved.

Epigenetic Regulation of Liver Fibrosis: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes the epigenetic mechanisms—DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non‐coding RNAs—that drive hepatic stellate cell activation and the progression of liver fibrosis. It further evaluates emerging therapeutic strategies targeting these epigenetic regulators, including DNA methyltransferase and histone deacetylase inhibitors ...

Masculinización de tilapia roja (Oreochromis spp) por inmersión utilizando 17 alfa–metiltestosterona Red tilapia (Oreochromis spp) masculinization by immersion using 17 alpha-methyltestosterone

C. elegans germ cells switch between distinct modes of double-strand break repair during meiotic prophase progression.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2007
Chromosome inheritance during sexual reproduction relies on deliberate induction of double-strand DNA breaks (DSBs) and repair of a subset of these breaks as interhomolog crossovers (COs).
