Sexual dysfunction: conceptual and measurement issues [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite a standard classification and array of self-report questionnaires, there is little consensus about how to define and measure sexual dysfunction.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Sexual selection on song and cuticular hydrocarbons in two distinct populations of Drosophila montana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Sexual selection has the potential to contribute to population divergence and speciation. Most studies of sexual selection in Drosophila have concentrated on a single signaling modality, usually either courtship song or cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Sexual Pleasure Matters – and How to Define and Assess It Too. A Conceptual Framework of Sexual Pleasure and the Sexual Response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
OBJECTIVE Sexual pleasure is central to current understandings of sexual function, health, and wellbeing. In this article, we suggest that we lack a sufficiently specific, yet encompassing, definition of sexual pleasure and that we therefore lack ...

Mating systems in caridean shrimp (Decapoda: Caridea) and their evolutionary consequences for sexual dimorphism and reproductive biology Sistemas de apareamiento en camarones carideos (Decapoda: Caridea) y sus consecuencias evolutivas en el dimorfismo sexual y biología reproductiva

open access: yesRevista Chilena de Historia Natural, 2003
In this paper we review functional and evolutionary relationships among mating systems of caridean shrimp and specific traits such as general biology/ecology, sexual systems, behavior and morphology.

Separated Sexes, Shared Consequences: Disentangling Predictors of Genetic Diversity in Dioecious Angiosperms

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Sexual systems such as dioecy, although rare in angiosperms, seem to enhance intrapopulation genetic diversity due to obligate outcrossing. Empirical studies had strengthened theoretical predictions that genetic diversity in dioecious angiosperms is ...
