Sediment Resuspension Under Wind‐Driven Currents and Waves: 1D Numerical Simulations Guided by Direct Observations Along the Dead Sea Shore

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Resuspension of fine‐grained bottom sediment under wind‐driven currents and waves is a key process in shaping nearshore environments. Commonly, resuspension is quantified for predicting the dispersion of contaminants and nutrients affecting water quality by numerical modeling and field measurements. Although a large body of research deals with

Synchronized Multidisciplinary Observations in Large‐Scale Dam Breach Experiments to Enhance the Understanding of Dam Failure Evolution

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Natural landslide dams pose severe hazards when they fail, and understanding their breach processes remain challenging because such events are rarely observed directly in the field. To address this gap, we conducted large‐scale overtopping experiments with compacted (CP) and non‐compacted (NCP) dams, supported by a synchronized multi‐sensor ...

Terrestrial Structure from Motion Photogrammetry for Deriving Forest Inventory Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The measurements of tree attributes required for forest monitoring and management planning, e.g., National Forest Inventories, are derived by rather time-consuming field measurements on sample plots, using calipers and measurement tapes.

Quantifying fish‐derived nutrient hotspots across reefscapes

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 1, Page 143-156, January 2026.
We show how reef structural complexity at multiple scales shapes fish‐driven nutrient hotspots and benthic enrichment. By identifying thresholds in relief and fine‐scale complexity, our study reveals when and where nutrient hotspots may form on coral reefs, offering practical guidance for coral reef restoration and ecosystem management.

Proactive Coral Reef Restoration Using Thermally Tolerant Corals in Hawaiʻi

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Effective conservation of degraded ecosystems requires mitigation of the original cause of decline, but this is difficult in the context of global climate change. On coral reefs, persistent environmental stress, which causes coral bleaching, may be addressed in restoration efforts by using coral stocks which are naturally more resilient, an ...

From pixel to mesh: accurate and straightforward 3D documentation of cultural heritage from the Cres/Lošinj archipelago [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Most people like 3D visualizations. Whether it is in movies, holograms or games, 3D (literally) adds an extra dimension to conventional pictures. However, 3D data and their visualizations can also have scientic archaeological benets: they are crucial in ...

Recuperación de pares estereoscópicos antiguos para la generación de modelos tridimensionales digitales de estados pasados de edificios históricos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
[EN] Three-dimensional models with photographic textures have become a usual product for the study and dissemination of elements of heritage. The interest for cultural heritage also includes evolution along time; therefore, apart from the 3D models of ...
