Deep Learning‐Based Quantification of Spontaneous Pain Behaviours in Mice

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 9, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Accurate evaluation of pain‐related behaviours in rodent models is crucial for elucidating pain mechanisms and assessing the efficacy of novel analgesic compounds. Traditional nociceptive assays primarily measure evoked responses, which have limited translational relevance since spontaneous pain is the predominant symptom in pain ...

Development of an Electronic Tongue for the Analysis of Particulate Matter Samples Collected in the City of Rio de Janeiro

open access: yesElectroanalysis, Volume 38, Issue 10, October 2026.
An electronic tongue based on a carbon screen‐printed electrode was used to obtain electrochemical fingerprints from particulate matter samples collected at different sites in Rio de Janeiro. The resulting voltammetric profiles were subsequently analyzed using pattern recognition tools, enabling differentiation among the studied sample groups.

A Comprehensive Review of GAN‐CNN Hybrid Methods for Intelligent Fault Diagnosis of Rotating Machinery

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
This paper reviews recent advances in hybrid deep learning for intelligent fault diagnosis of rotating machinery, focusing on GAN‐ and CNN‐based architectures and their specialized variants. Hybrid GAN‐CNN methods are categorized into three groups: (1) optimized original GANs with CNN variants, (2) improved GAN architectures integrated with CNNs, and ...

Charting the Normal Development of Structural Brain Connectivity in Utero Using Diffusion MRI

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 14, October 1, 2026.
This study proposes new methods to study the development of the structural connectivity in utero using diffusion‐weighted MRI. The methods are applied on data from around 200 fetal brains to chart how the structural connectome develops between 22 and 37 gestational weeks.
