The Relationship Between Structural and Functional Pulmonary Status and Quality of Life in Children With Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia. [PDF]

open access: yesPediatr Pulmonol
ABSTRACT Introduction Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a genetic disorder characterized by impaired mucociliary clearance, leading to recurrent airway infections and bronchiectasis. Monitoring disease progression requires both functional and structural assessments of the lungs.

WHODAS 2.0 to Assess Disability in the Rehabilitation of Individuals With Chronic Respiratory Conditions: Responsiveness and Interpretability. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiother Res Int
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose Individuals with chronic respiratory conditions have physical impairments that lead to disability, but which can be alleviated with physical exercise. We aimed to examine the responsiveness and interpretability of the World Health Organisation Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS) 2.0 following an exercise‐based ...

Variance-Guided Regression for Heteroscedastic Data With a Grouping-Based Extension for Nonlinear Prediction. [PDF]

open access: yesStat Med
ABSTRACT Although homoscedasticity is often assumed in linear regression, real data may show variance patterns or residual structures that violate this assumption. We propose VarGuid, a variance‐guided framework for two related settings: Covariate‐dependent conditional variance under a global linear mean model, and residual nonlinear mean structure ...

Body Composition and Muscle Function in Bronchiectasis: A Comparative Longitudinal Study. [PDF]

open access: yesRespirology
We compared body composition and muscle function in adults with bronchiectasis versus controls and assessed if leg strength estimates 1‐year outcomes. Patients with bronchiectasis had lower muscle mass, bone density, and leg strength. Reduced leg strength is associated with worse dyspnoea, quality of life, and functional capacity, highlighting the need

Health status of COPD patients undergoing pulmonary rehabilitation: A comparative responsiveness of the CAT and SGRQ [PDF]

open access: yesChronic Respiratory Disease, 2017
The St. George’s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) assessment test (CAT) are the measures used to assess health status. This study aims to examine the responsiveness of these tools by severity of dyspnoea category in patients with COPD.

COPD exacerbations and patient-reported outcomes according to post-bronchodilator FEV1 – a post-hoc analysis of pooled data

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2023
Background Management strategies of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) need to be tailored to the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), exacerbations, and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) of individual patients.

Comparison of health-related quality of life measures in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yesHealth and Quality of Life Outcomes, 2011
Background The aims of this study were: (1) to compare the discriminative ability of a disease-specific instrument, the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) to generic instruments (i.e., EQ-5D and SF-36); and (2), to evaluate the strength of ...

Pulmonary Function, Dyspnea and SGRQ in Patients With COPD

open access: yesJournal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, 2009
