Selective Inhibition of Integrin β3 Topology Provides a Safer Antithrombotic Strategy
Current integrin αIIbβ3 inhibitors effectively reduce thrombosis but also increase bleeding risk. During thrombosis, high shear blood flow can directly activate the integrin αIIbβ3 via a distinct topological change in the β3 transmembrane domain, independent of hemostatic platelet signaling.

Physics‐Embedded Neural Network: A Novel Approach to Design Polymeric Materials
Traditional black‐box models for polymer mechanics rely solely on data and lack physical interpretability. This work presents a physics‐embedded neural network (PENN) that integrates constitutive equations into machine learning. The approach ensures reliable stress predictions, provides interpretable parameters, and enables performance‐driven, inverse ...

ALKBH3 m1A Demethylase Deficiency Reduces Alzheimer's Amyloid‐β Pathology
This study identifies that ALKBH3‐driven m1A demethylation orchestrates Alzheimer's disease progression by disrupting mitochondrial and synaptic homeostasis. This epitranscriptomic mechanism suppresses PINK1‐mediated mitophagy via m1A erasure, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, elevated Aβ production, and impaired microglial ...

Bimodal modulation of nitric oxide in endothelial cells is achieved by light‐sensitive polymer nanoparticles. In dark, P3HT/PEDOT:PSS NPs boost intracellular ·NO, upregulate both endothelial and induced nitric oxide synthase, and drive a metabolic shift toward glycolysis.

Shade Avoidance: Expanding the Color and Hormone Palette
Trends in Plant Science, 2021Major strides have been made over the past decade in elucidating the mechanisms that mediate shade-avoidance responses. The canonical PHYTOCHROME INTERACTING FACTOR (PIF)-auxin pathway that begins with inactivation of phytochrome B (phyB) by a low red:far-red (R:FR) ratio, and that leads to increased elongation, has been thoroughly characterized in ...

SummaryThe threat to plant survival presented by light limitation has driven the evolution of highly plastic adaptive strategies to either tolerate or avoid shading by neighbouring vegetation. When subject to vegetational shading, plants are exposed to a variety of informational signals, which include altered light quality and a reduction in light ...

Photomorphogenesis of leaves: shade-avoidance and differentiation of sun and shade leaves
Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2005Leaf shape is an important factor in optimal plant growth, because leaves are the main photosynthetic organs. Plants exhibit plasticity in leaf shape and structure, allowing them to optimize photosynthetic efficiency. In Arabidopsis thaliana(L.) Heynh., several types of leaves develop differentially, according to light intensity and quality.

Shade Avoidance Influences Stress Tolerance in Maize
Weed Science, 2011Previous studies have suggested that the reduction in the root/shoot ratio that accompanies the shade avoidance response may reduce the tolerance of individuals to subsequent nutrient or moisture limitations. In this work, we examined the impact of the shade avoidance response on maize seedling growth and development and the response of these plants to
