Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Itch‐induced tick removal (IITR): An acquired neuroimmune mechanism, itch‐induced tick removal, develops after repeated tick exposure, mobilizing T cells and macrophages at the tick bite site to trigger a rapid scratching response that facilitates timely tick removal within a critical window that precedes the transmission of many tick‐borne pathogens ...

Improving Yield and Quality of ‘Balady’ Mandarin Trees by Using Shading Techniques and Reflective Materials in Response to Climate Change Under Flood Irrigation Conditions

open access: yesAgronomy
Considering climate change predictions, it is logical to anticipate detrimental effects on the mandarin tree, an essential citrus crop. Therefore, scientists should promptly focus on developing methods to enhance its resistance to climatic stress effects

Diversity of Pharmaceuticals Enhances Antibiotic Resistance in the Invertebrate Gut via Biofilm‐Mediated Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pharmaceutical diversity acts as an independent driver of antibiotic resistance in soil invertebrates. While bulk soil remains unaffected, the collembolan gut microbiome exhibits significant resistance gene enrichment under complex chemical exposure and diurnal warming.

The influence of shade tree species and coffee varieties on selected soil physicochemical properties in coffee-based farming system of southwestern Ethiopia

open access: yesTrees, Forests and People
Different shade tree species are used in various coffee production systems across the world. Outside the benefits of biodiversity protection, temperature protection, and carbon sequestration shade trees can influence soil nutrient states through litter ...

Landscaping in Florida Shade

open access: yesEDIS, 2012
Trees and the shade they cast provide welcome relief from Florida’s intense sun and heat, but gardening in shade can be challenging. This 4-page fact sheet has some pointers for meeting these challenges and lists of shade-tolerant plants.

Identifikasi Kondisi Pohon Peneduh Terhadap Keselamatan Manusia Menggunakan Logika Fuzzy Mamdani

open access: yesJISA (Jurnal Informatika dan Sains), 2020
The condition of shade trees is very important for the safety of road users. It often happens in shade trees because of the factors of temperature, climate, air damage, and lack of oxygen in the tree.

Global Nitrogen Deposition Promotes Carbon Sink Formation in Terrestrial Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen deposition alleviates ecosystem N limitation and enhances carbon sinks. Using 829 observations, we show 36% of deposited N is retained globally (39.15 Tg N yr−1), with distinct NHx and NOy contributions. This retention drives a terrestrial C sink of 0.88 Pg C yr−1 (25.48%), highlighting the importance of pool‐specific C:N stoichiometry ...

A preliminary exploration of the cooling effect of tree shade in urban landscapes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation, 2020
Mitigating urban heat island (UHI) effects, especially under climate change, is necessary for the promotion of urban sustainability. Shade is one of the most important functions provided by urban trees for mitigating UHI.
